Favourite North-East building and why?
Number 22, Coniscliffe Road, Darlington. It’s not a fancy landmark it’s my dad’s pub and it’s where he met my mum! It’s always felt like a second home to me but I love that it also feels like a second home to lots of the regulars and the staff. It’s a place where people come together and I feel like there are a lot of very happy memories in that building.
What was your first job and how much did you get paid?
My first job was working the Sunday lunch shift at our village pub. I can’t remember how much I was paid… enough for days out with friends and pocket money!
What is the worst job you’ve had?
The worst job I had was before I worked at Anthony Jones. I was working for an interior design company in York. Our office was behind the warehouse in an industrial yard and it had no heating and the power ranoff a generator – in the winter the toilet froze over. Not good.
What would your superpower be?
If I could have any super power it would be the ability to teleport. I’d definitely teleport to the Maldives every weekend!
Favourite book or film or both?
My favourite film is Homeward Bound. I’ve loved it since I was very young and it still makes me cry now. It’s a proper feel-good film. I couldn’t choose a favourite book, that’s way too hard.
What is your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement is probably getting my Level 3 Award in The Sale of Residential Property. The exams were a lot harder than I expected and I put in a year of studying as well as working fulltime so I was very proud of myself when my certificate came in the post!
What’s the best piece of advice in business you’ve ever been given?
That you don’t have to be the biggest to be the best. While Anthony Jones are still very new to Darlington, we’ve won regional awards and we’re regularly out performing other local agents when it comes to time-on-market, the number of clicks we get on our adverts and lots of other areas! In 2018 we were ranked in the top 1% of estate agents in the UK having only been going 2 years and that was a very proud moment for all of us.
Favourite animal and why?
It has to be dogs. But my favourite dogs are miniature welsh corgis, because they look like little loafs of bread.
Most famous person you have met?
I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody really famous… But I went to a One Direction concert when I was 15 and Harry Styles definitely waved at me. Does that count?
In another life I would be…
A Hollywood actress. During school I loved performing arts and always wanted to go into acting.
Who would play you in a film of your life?
I would love for Emilia Clarke to play me in a film of my life. She’s definitely one of my favourite actresses and I think she’d be so much fun to be friends with!
What’s your secret talent?
I can play piano! Though I haven’t played for a long time, it’s something I’d like to get back into.
What’s your passion outside of work?
As I’ve got a bit older, I’ve discovered a real passion for travel. In the past year I’ve been to Berlin, Rome and at the end of November I’m travelling around Thailand for 10 days. I think it’s really important to get out there and see the world that we live in and experience different cultures (and if I get a tan then that’s a bonus!) I also love fashion and most of my wages go on clothes and accessories!
